GenTN Conference 2009

June 26 and 27, 2009

Nashville Downtown Public Library

GenTN’s annual summer leadership conference is made for Tennessee’s emerging leaders. The goal of the conference is to create and environment where participants can interact with other leaders from across Tennessee, learn about the state of the state and be inspired to look beyond themselves to come up with innovative solutions to the challenges facing Tennessee.

In its past conferences, GenTN has featured keynote addresses from notables such as Governor Phil Bredesen, John Seigenthaler, Mayor Karl Dean and Congressman Jim Cooper. Panelists at the conferences have included Department of Finance & Administration Commissioner Dave Goetz, music industry and community leader Kitty Moon Emery, MPACT Memphis’ Doug Bacon and former mayor of Chattanooga Jon Kinsey, just to name a few.

2009 Conference

2009 will mark the sixth annual GenTN conference. The conference will be held on Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, at the Downtown Library in Nashville. It features a new format designed to include more of what previous attendees said made the conference unique: networking and interaction. Click here to see this year’s schedule and speakers.

Friday will feature a wide array of workshops for attendees to choose from, each with a leader who brings specialized knowledge in fields that have a direct impact on the lives of attendees. From entrepreneurship to the power of social networks, these options will put attendees in smaller groups and in a position to interact with other attendees as well as the leaders to inspire them to take new steps.

Saturday will feature a more traditional conference panel program, with topics to include:

- You, the Economy and the Future
- How Green Is Tennessee?
- Better Schools, Better State
- Beyond the City Walls

In addition, on Saturday, GenTN will host candidates in the 2010 governor’s race for a unique lunch. Candidates from both parties and all sides of the political spectrum will sit with attendees over lunch, giving GenTN members access to share their thoughts and hear from the candidates on what issues are important to them.
